He Suffered for You

This was one of my devotions I read this morning and it touched my heart. Taken from the book, Passion With A Purpose.

When Jesus Christ was on the Cross, His blood draining the life from His body, He knew what it was like to be alone and wracked with pain, for He was suffering God's judgement on all the sins of the ages -- the greatest darkenss of the soul ever known. As the divine Son of God, He was perfect and without sin. But all our sins were placed on Him, and He took the judgement and Hell we alone deserve. He died in our place.
Why did Jesus suffer? For you. For me. That we might have eternal life and have His peace in the midst of life's storms. That we might know that He understands our pain and suffering and stands ready to help.
Why did Jesus suffer? Because God loves us. Because God loves you, and Christ willingly went to the Cross for you. There was no other way for sin's penalty to be paid, and for us to be redeemed. The Cross is the measure of God's love.
How will you respond to His love, poured out on the Cross for you?

Yoda and his spot

A few months ago, I was walking towards the couch in our bedroom when all of a sudden Yoda took a leap for the right side. Before I could think to say anything, he plopped down in his spot. It was as if he was running to beat me. 99% of the time, if I am on this couch, you can pretty much mark it down that Yoda will be right there beside me. Just ask Meme or Tiffi......they know first hand. When we are looking up stuff on the computer and they are sitting in his spot, he jumps right on up!

Gracie and Dirt

I believe that Gracie would rather play in the dirt, in the sand, in rocks, in the grass, in mud or any other "free" natural element than any toy you can buy. Here she is enjoying her bucket and shovel that Nana Kay and Poppy gave her for her birthday. She plays with this quite often. She loves it.

Ada's 6th Birthday

We celebrated Ada's birthday today. She also had a Hannah Montana party. Ada had some of her friends from school come and celebrate with her, while the little ones all ran around together! Ha, already separating themselves. We are so blessed to have Ada in our lives and pray that God continues to bless her as she grows.

Barney Visit

I took Gracie to Tweetsie today to see Bob The Builder, Barney and Angelina Ballerina. They all performed shows and was well worth the trip over to Blowing Rock. After their shows we got to snap photos. Gracie really enjoyed getting to meet them and giving them five. She didn't much care for giving any hugs away!

We went to Nana's today to play and we had a fun-filled day. We started off at Family Dollar, Roses, Park, Dairy House, and then finally to Nana's house! The girls immediately wanted to play in the water.....and guess who joined them? NANA!!!!

Happy 10th Anniversary to Us

Today is mine and Scott's 10th Anniversary. We went to Myrtle Beach to the Family Kingdom water park this morning. Gracie had fun coming down the slides and splashing around in the water. Scott enjoyed coming down the slides as well.

After the water park we went and ate at Olive Garden - in which we learned that Scott did not like. We decided to go walk around at Broadway at the Beach so Gracie could take a nap. While there, Gracie got to feed the fish, ride on a motorized doggy, build a doll at Build A Bear, and play on the playground. When we arrived back at Southport we ventured over to Oak Island to fly the kite Poppy left for Gracie. Neither Scott or myself could get it up in the air. We told Gracie that flying the kite would have to be Poppy's thing. Gracie played in the ocean and in the sand. She was covered in sand pretty much from head to toes and we weren't there no longer than probably 45 minutes.

Rainy Day at the Beach

We woke up this morning to the sound of pouring rain pounding on the tin roof above the camper. I let up for about 3 hours and we managed to walk out on the pier and sit in the swings at the port. Other than that it was pouring the rain. In the evening, it started to clear up and Scott and Gracie went fishing at the port.

Wednesday Night - Arrival Day

We arrived at the camper around 10:45 pm. Nana Kay, Poppy and Aunt Tina had left prizes for Gracie and this is what we found when we opened the door to the camper. Gracie had been asleep so she didn't want much to do with anything. I layed her down on the bench and in a few minutes she was up and ready to play with her goodies!

Gracie went to the Dr for her 3 year old check up and the Dr told me she was perfect. The Dr asked Gracie some questions and her answers shocked me.

1. Gracie are you a girl or a boy? (dirl)
2. What is your name? (Gacie)
3. How old are you? (as she holds up 3 fingers....free)
4. Is it better to cross the street with your mom or by yourself? (with me) No, you should never cross the road by yourself. ***I chime in and ask, "Gracie what are you supposed to do when you cross the road?" (hold hands) ****whooooeeeee*****
5. Gracie what have you been doing this summer? (Going to the library.) ****I ask, "Gracie where have you been seeing the Indians? (At Tweetsie Railroad)
6. What else have you seen at Tweetsie? (I see Indians...and cowboys....and horses.....1 horse....and the cowboys and the indians shoot each other and go pow....I like the Indians better....etc.

Gracie just talked her little mouth away.....so cute to see her answering her own questions!

After the Dr. we went and met Meme for some yummy lunch and then headed to the Library. As we were checking out, the Librarian asked if we were going to stay to see Ronald McDonald, so we decided to stay. Gracie didn't even know who he was, but now she does. As usual, she didn't want to get her picture made with him, so I snapped some pictures of him anyway.

Mia had to go to Winston for some tests today and Meme asked me if I would go with them. After the tests, we decided to do a little shopping at the mall. I had a coupon for Build-A-Bear so we decided to let the girls do one. They decided to do monkeys (which fit them real well)! Gracie named hers Josie. They had fun during the stuffing procedures as well as washing them. Gracie has several build-a-bears and rotates sleeping with them....right now of course it's her Monkey Josie.

Pop and Granny Time

Granny had a knee replacement surgery in one of her knees, so we went up to see her after church today. Gracie begged Pop Pop to take her outside to see the two puppies and of course he did. She absolutely loves animals....makes me think she might become a vet some day.

The puppies knocked her down, scratched her and then would lay on her......which she loved dearly! Watch out, because when she did get ahold of them, she would hug them to death!

Fair Trip with Meme

The fair came to town again and Meme (Melanie....most everyone calls her Meme) and I decided to use this as our day out for this month! We met around 4:00 and purchased our tickets. Then we were off to have a big fun time! We got to ride with the kids on some of the rides....so us adults even got to have fun! Gracie really enjoyed herself. She loved the Air walk Obstacle Course the best.

After our fun, we ventured over to Village Inn Pizza for some yummy pizza and salad!

We went to Gatlinburg again this year with the Clonch's. We had a much needed wonderful mini-vacation! It is always good to put your life on hold and enjoy the not-so-norm! Even tho, we had to pack up and move to another cabin, we still enjoyed out time.

So, here I am sitting up in bed -- TV is turned on to Clifford -- Gracie is sitting up beside of me leaned up against two pillows -- I have my Bible in my lap and my Sunday School book in my hand -- she grabs her Sunday School paper from last week and holds it up in front of her face -- I notice what she is doing (trying to be like me) -- I can't help but notice that she keeps wanting to look at the TV, but her eyes keep wondering back to the paper like she is reading it -- I tell her it is ok to watch the TV, but she insists on reading her paper -- after being amused for a while at her, I finally read over her paper with her -- It's the little things she does that melts my heart!

We were downstairs today, playing with some Happy Meal toys -- Gracie brings a heart box over to me -- puts it up to my chest -- and says, "Jesus in your heart" -- I smiled and said, "yes, and He's in your heart too!" -- she looks at me and says, "Daddy's too!" -- I told her "yes, Daddy's too!".

Gracie has so much fun helping in the kitchen. She absolutely loves to help cook. We decided today that we would bake a cake. As usual, she wanted to lick the bowl.

After baking the cake, we went outside to play in the sunshine. We had a picnic lunch and even made sno-cones. They were yummy.

Then Gracie had a surprise visit from our neighbor friend. After a long time of playing, it was time for a cool, refreshing pop-sicle.

Gracie's 1st Trip to the Dentist

Today, I took Gracie to some appointments. One of which was her first Dentist appointment. We arrived at the appointment at around 10:30 ish and left at 12:35. Whoooooeeeee....long wait! However, they had a crawling tunnel/play area that kept Gracie busy.

When they called Gracie's name, she called out, "What?". It was funny....first time she has really had this kind of experience. We walk back to the room and Gracie starts crawling up in the chair. The assistant told me to sit down and let her sit on my lap....all the time Gracie watching her. She finally asks me if I think Gracie will let her clean her teeth, so I told her to try it. To our surprise, she cooperated. Here is a short video.

When the dentist came in, she clamped her mouth shut and finally after a few minutes she opened up and let him look. She didn't have any cavities and he said her teeth looked great.

After the dentist, we went to eat and then went to the Library. This was also Gracie's first trip to the Library. She immediately went in and sat down on a stool and found a Clifford book.

After "reading" a few books, she spotted some table toys and off she went to explore! We checked out a few Clifford books and two movies!

Summer Fun in the Winter Time

It warmed up so we could go outside and play for a while. Gracie got to swing on her swing set for a while. We played in her house, watched the doggies wrestle and even had a yummy snack. Gracie decided she wanted a popsicle. Blue is her favorite! Even tho, it was warm enough to go outside, it wasn't warm enough for Gracie to hold her popsicle, so we had to put her gloves on so she could hold it.

After her yummy snack, we decided to light some sparklers. She had so much fun with them, we used the whole box.

When we went back inside, Papa C called and said he was going to come by for a while. He and Gracie painted while I cooked supper.

Toddler Bed Time

So we finally done it! Here are some photo's from tonight. Gracie was extremely excited about having the rails taken off her crib. She even pretended to be asleep. Here it is about an hour after I layed her down and I haven't heard anything from her. I'm praying all goes well.

"Snow much fun"

We were very disappointed at the sight of no snow this morning when we woke up. I had told Gracie that she might could play in the snow if we got some and she just jumped and bounced around. I decided that since we didn't get any here that I would take her up to mom and dad's and let her play in it there. The temperature was around 15 degrees, so needless to say we were not out there very long at all. Here are a few snapshots we managed to take before we ran back inside.

Gracie walked in the kitchen and told Nana that she wanted to bake a cake. Nana asked her if she wanted to bake a yellow cake or a pink cake and Gracie chose to bake a pink cake. Here is a video of her icing the cake. Gracie would put a little on the cake and then take a big lick off the knife...(over and over again)! But hay...this was her cake...so she could do that with it. We thought it was very funny and sweet. Notice at the end of the video, she says, "I need some milk!"

Crib Milestone

Today, Gracie met a new milestone in her life. As I was walking out of her room, I notice her climbing into her crib. I watch as she looks at me with a huge smile on her face. She says, "Mommy, I got in my bed!" I said, "I see that and you can just stay in there for a minute!" I knew that I had stuff to take to the basement, so I was going to let her stay in there until I got done. However, as I open the basement door, I hear her footsteps running across the floor. She comes out of her room ans says, "I can get out meself!" As bad as I dread it, we are now facing the "toddler bed" faze!

Gracie absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVES books. She will set for long periods of time and just sit and look through them...not to mention all the time we spend reading them to her. Scott found some bookshelves at Big Lots and decided to get a couple. He put them together when he got home and I filled one of them with her books. Gracie didn't waste any time sitting down and getting to work on reading her books.

I try, in my small ways, to keep this site updated. However, I fail miserably. First off, I have a toddler who takes up most of my free time. Secondly, I have stopped getting on the computer as much as I did, so I can use that time better: ie: Bible Study, Family Time, Me Time, Friend Time, Scrapbooking Time, and just Plain ol' Lazy Time or in other words (Sleep Time)!

To start off with, we had a wonderful Christmas. We were blessed to be with our famlies (all in good health), attended some Christmas parties, and were involved in some wonderful church activities. We also enjoyed time with our friends as well.

Gracie enjoyed the "after parties" or the down time after the opening of presents. She opened a few presents and then her attention would be shifted to something else. She finally warmed up to the man we call Santa! Thank goodness. Last year, we didn't get a Santa picture, so I am very pleased that it worked out this year.

We got some exciting news from Kevin and Julie (my brother and his wife) on Christmas Day. They are expecting their 3rd child and should be due around August. I am so excited and can't wait to get to meet him or her. Please keep them in your prayers during this time. I know they would appreciate it.

Our New Year has started off wonderful. I have been blessed to have two weeks straight in the same classroom, with hopefully a few more to follow. God worked it out and I praise Him for that. He knows what we need! Scott is still enjoying his job at Sherwin Williams and we still count that opportunity as a blessing from God. We have had so many answered prayers in our life and we thank God for always being there for us.

Movie Rental

Scott had to work today and then he had a football party to go to after work. I had the whole day with Gracie. We had a good time. We played with her toys here at home and then we went shopping. We went out to eat and then went and rented a movie...her first...Cinderella III. We came home, put our pj's on, popped us some popcorn and put the movie in.

To my surprise, she sat on my lap the entire movie and didn't move until it was over. It was well worth the money spent on the movie just to see her sit still for that long. She got worried over Cinderella when she would get sad, but all in all she loved it. Here is a picture of us after the movie went off.

Today we had Christmas supper with Meme and her family. We started out by attending the Elkin Parade. Gracie loved it. At first she would hold both mine and Scott's hands and only let go to run and get candy. By the end of the parade she wasn't holding our hand any more. She was on the run for the candy.

After the parade, we met at their house and ate some pizza and played Rook while the kids played. Then it was present time. We also had a great time playing with the Jack Russell puppies.

This is a hoot, but I suspect the minister didn't appreciate it.

A minister was completing a temperance sermon. With great emphasis he said, "If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river."

We took Gracie for an early "Trick or Treat" at Nana K and Poppy's house. They had a fish-fry for lunch. Aunt Tina and Uncle Richard came too.

Greenway Trail

Every year, businesses can set up booths along the Greenway Trail and hand out candy or other items to promote their businesses. Gracie had fun, but instead of saying "Trick or Treat", she would go up to them and say "More Candy".

We decided to carve our pumpkins tonight. The Clonch's came over and we all carved one and some even 2!

Scott's is the ship.
Amanda's is the turkey.
Gracie's is the small jack-o-lantern.
Jason's is the spider one.
Tiffany's is the witch.
Cheyenne's is the larger jack-o-lantern.
I don't think Grayson's got carved.

first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately
wanted to paint another on e.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a
stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind
to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my
favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little
things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a
prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always
talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a
meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I
learned that we all have to help take care of each
other.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of
your time and money to help people who had nothing,
and I learned that those who have something should
give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care
of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have
to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you
handled your responsibilities, even when you didn' t
feel good, and I learned that I would have to be
responsible when I grow up.

from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things
hurt, but it's all right to cry.

cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

Gracie loves Play-Doh

Nana Joy and Papaw brought Gracie some Play-Doh back from their trip. Gracie dove right into playing. One of the things it has is a necklace kit so I made Gracie a necklace. She loved it.

A Day in the Mountains

We finally got to have a day out with Meme and the kids....a much needed one at that! Our day started with the pumpkin patch. Gracie picked out her pumpkin and it was perfect! Then we went to the corn maze. We had a great time, going through the corn, playing games, and just being together. Next we ventured to Pizza Hut and ate some yummy pizza. Then we headed up to Mount Jefferson to take a look at the leaves and of course snap some pictures. We ended the day with 4-wheeler riding and eating another yummy sub.

Nana Joy and Papaw are home!

Nana and Papaw made it back around 3:30 am Friday morning. Papaw met me at 7:15 am Friday morning to get Gracie so I could go to work. We met at their house for supper Friday night to eat some delicious subs from Delaware, PA. Believe me, they were yummy!
